Hello
My name is Dr. Vivian Tran

Dr. Tran was born and raised in Boston, MA. As a teenager, she volunteered at the Massachusetts SPCA. When a veterinarian began mentoring her, she developed interests in both medicine and the human-animal bond.

Throughout high school and college, Dr. Tran volunteered at numerous shelters and was employed as a veterinary technician in Cambridge, MA. She also served as a mentor to younger students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, similarly to her upbringing. She completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University, majoring in Human Physiology and Biology. Dr. Tran then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She served on her Class Board and ran the Shelter Medicine Club. Throughout her studies, she gained more animal experience by working at Art City Vets as a veterinary technician beginning in 2021. She gained additional surgery experience through volunteering at low-cost clinics in Philadelphia.
By the time she graduated in 2024, she received many accolades and scholarships for her achievements in community outreach, emergency medicine, and dermatology. Today, Dr. Tran's main clinical interests include surgery, emergency medicine/urgent care, dermatology, and internal medicine (particularly endocrinopathies and chronic enteropathies). She is Fear Free Certified and Cat Friendly Certified. She is also a USDA Accredited veterinarian.
When asked about what her favorite part of being a veterinarian is, Dr. Tran said: "Gaining genuine relationships with my patients and their parents is my favorite part of being a veterinarian. I love seeing one of my long-term patients walk through the door - cuddling my patients then catching up with their parents are often the best part of my day. From a medicine stand-point, I think my favorite part is the diagnostic hunt. Nothing brings me more joy than working with a patient to uncover and treat underlying issues, especially if they are chronic. My goal is always to provide targeted treatments that ultimately increase quality of life and comfort for both my patients and their owners."
During her free time, you can find her rock climbing, reading, cooking her family's Vietnamese recipes, exploring Philadelphia's food scene, and doing anything to spoil her dog. She has a 8-year-old pitbull mix named Koekje (Cookie), who she adopted from ACCT on her first day of veterinary school.
